Barry RFC’s junior section has scored a funding boost from East Wales region.
The club’s under 8s has received a £1,000 donation from our East Wales region.
The donation comes through the Community Champions scheme, which supports good causes in the areas in which it is building, with up to £4,000 donated each month across Wales.
Members of the team were joined by local Vale of Glamorgan Councillors for Gibbonsdown, Julie Aviet and Margaret Wilkinson, for a cheque presentation by Persimmon on Friday evening.
The funding will be used to purchase the team new training tops and kit bags. The team has also undertaken bucket collections at local supermarkets and has a number of fundraising events arranged for the coming months.
East Wales region is currently building quality new homes at East Haven in Barry, offering a mix of three and four-bedroom homes, with prices starting at £299,995.
Commenting on the donation, Lisa Needham of Barry RFC, said:
