Blackburn first time buyers turn a blank canvas into an interiors dream

A young couple from Blackburn have turned their first home into their own interior design wonderland after moving in just before Christmas.

Marc Slater, 26 and Chloe Fish, 24, purchased their three-bed semi-detached Barton home style at The Blossoms development with support from the Government’s Help to Buy scheme.

The couple have now decorated and furnished their blank canvas into a home which they are incredibly proud to call their own.

Marc, who is a HGV driver by trade, said: “If I was ever to pack my job in I would quite fancy myself as an interior designer. I have loved decorating and creating everything in the house myself, bespoke to how Chloe and I wanted it.

“We were lucky enough to be in a position where we bought a lot of the furniture before even moving in, so all we had to do was decide where we wanted everything. We shopped around at various stores such as Wayfair and The Range but also had a lot of custom designed furniture from a place called Enzo design in Manchester.

“We had a settee to fit the living room perfectly, as well as an armchair, a chrome clock and customised paint. The living room is definitely my favourite room in the house – everything just fits together perfectly.”

As part of the sale, the couple also selected their own personal upgrades from Persimmon’s Finishing Touches range, such as worktops for the kitchen and new doors, tailored to suit their own tastes.

Marc describes how the Help to Buy scheme allowed them to buy a property much sooner than they expected.

“I was originally saving to buy a new car but when we found out about Help to Buy, we realised we didn’t need to save a lot more for a house, so we started browsing,” he said. “For the size and value of the Persimmon Barton, we were sold straight away – we couldn’t fault it.”

Diane Finch, sales director for Persimmon Lancashire said: “It has been great to welcome Marc and Chloe to The Blossoms and watch them turn their new house into a home.

“As a company, it is so rewarding to see first time buyers taking their first step onto the property ladder with us and we wish them both all the best in their new home.”

The Blossoms development in Blackburn offers a collection of two, three, four and five-bedroom homes. With great transport links, the development is perfect for those looking to commute into Accrington, Burnley, and Preston.
