Cardiff site manager honoured for construction excellence

A site manager from Cardiff has been honoured for his quality of work and attention to detail with a prize at the Persimmon Homes Excellence Always Awards.

Dave Richards was one of three to pick up a trophy in the new Construction Excellence category at the awards

Dave is currently Site Manager at the Regency Park development at Llanilltern Village in Creigiau, and judges praised the internal finishes on the development and said it was clear “customers were receiving an excellent new home”.

They added that first fix plumbing and electrical were amongst the best seen, as was the quality of the brickwork, and he received his prize from Persimmon Group Chief Executive, Dean Finch.

Commenting after the ceremony, Dave, a 32-year-old rugby player, said:

“As a team, we set ourselves high standards right from the outset and we wanted the Llanilltern site to be amongst the best.

“Everyone from the contractors upwards has bought into the journey and we’re delighted to have achieved the accolades that we have.

“Our focus is firmly on customer service and quality and this is a recognition of that.”

Regency Park, by Persimmon’s sister company Charles Church, is part of a large 1,500 home development off junction 33 of the M4 on the edge of Cardiff. The development will also include a primary school and sports pitches.

Dave, who also recently won a NHBC Pride in the Job Award, has been with Charles Church and Persimmon Homes for eight years having graduated from university with a degree in Project and Construction Management.

Lee Woodfine, Managing Director at Persimmon Homes East Wales, said: “We are delighted that Dave, his team and our business have been recognised for the excellent standards at Regency Park.

“Dave set himself the target of winning a NHBC Pride in the Job Award for this site and did everything he could to ensure everyone knew what was expected of them.

“Our vision is to be Britain’s leading homebuilder, with quality and customer service at its heart, building the best value homes on the market in communities across South Wales.”

Dave received his award in front of 200 colleagues at a ceremony in Birmingham this week.

He won the bronze award in the category, while Tashan Bartlett of Essex won silver and Gareth Lewis of East Scotland scooped gold.

The Persimmon Homes Excellence Always Awards identified teams that embraced The Persimmon Way and demonstrated initiative and outstanding management skills, encouraging everyone involved on their development to excel.
