A community football club in Derby has received a cash boost from North Midlands as part of its Community Champions scheme.
Here at Persimmon we make £64,000 a month available to fund community initiatives across the UK.
AFC Chellaston currently has over 700 registered members in over 50 girls, mixed and adult teams. Players start from just six years of age and play on Saturdays and Sundays in leagues across the Midlands.
Kevin Purser, manager of AFC Chellaston Cougars U14's, said: “On behalf of everyone at the club I’d like to say a huge thank you to Persimmon Homes.
“We’ve been looking for sponsorship for a while now so this £1,000 donation will help us provide a new match kit for all the players.
“We are also partners with a charity called PAPYRUS, which helps prevent suicide in the young, so we’re really proud to be able to have the charities name on the front of these shirts.”
Nadine O'Dowd, sales director at North Midlands, said: “It gives me great pleasure to be supporting AFC Chellaston Cougars U14's with our Community Champions funding this month.
“The club has worked hard in recent years to increase its female participation and now has over 100 females playing in its teams which is another reason why I believe they’re deserving winners.
“As a business we’re always looking for opportunities to support sport organisations because we believe it can play a massive part in keeping people healthy and active.
“I would like to take this opportunity to wish AFC Chellaston Cougars U14's all the very best of luck for the remainder of the season and I’m sure they’ll have a long, successful future.”
