West Scotland region have partnered with Sanctuary Scotland Housing Association to deliver new affordable homes in Kirkintilloch.

Twenty one high-quality, affordable new homes will help local people in housing need, following the completion of a project involving West Scotland and Sanctuary Scotland Housing Association.

The much-needed affordable homes have been built at the Kelvin Gait development in East Dunbartonshire and include a mixture of one, two and three bedroom properties.

West Scotland's Managing Director, Chris Logan, was joined on site by staff from Sanctuary Scotland Housing Association to mark the completion of the project and meet with local residents to hear how the new affordable homes are already benefitting families in need.

“Sanctuary Scotland is committed to building high quality, energy-efficient homes to help tackle the housing crisis and help our residents save money on their fuel bill too.

“Our continued partnership with the Scottish Government and East Dunbartonshire Council is helping meet the great demand for affordable homes in the area.”

Kelvin Gait features a total of 84 energy-efficient new homes, ranging from one to four bedrooms. The new homes were built on a derelict brownfield site beside the old headquarters of East Dunbartonshire Council, transforming the area from an eye sore into a modern, accessible and affordable development.

As well as being within a 10-minute walk of the town centre, local school and sports centre, the Kelvin Gait development is designed to encourage active travel and includes a section of cycle way that connects to the National Walking and Cycling Network.
