Persimmon Homes has made a donation to a fund designed to help isolated, vulnerable or needy individuals and families in Canterbury.
The Mayor of Canterbury’s annual Christmas fund was boosted by £1,000 thanks to Persimmon Homes South East, helping them on their way to their target of £16,000.
Fundraising takes place throughout the year so that each Christmas supermarket vouchers can be purchased through the fund. These are then handed to family centres and other umbrella organisations to distribute to those who are isolated or vulnerable over the Christmas period.
Families in Herne Bay, Whitstable, Hersden and other surrounding villages are supported through the scheme, as well as those in Canterbury itself.
The Lord Mayor of Canterbury, Cllr Jean Butcher, thanked Persimmon during a visit to Tower House.
Stephen Thompson, Trustee of the Lord Mayor of Canterbury’s Christmas Gift Fund, said: “This money will benefit families living right across our district, and it really does make a huge difference to those who receive the vouchers.
“Thank you to Persimmon Homes for supporting our fund and the people of Canterbury district.”
Kerri Bland, Director of Planning for Persimmon Homes South East, said: “It is an honour to support such a worthy cause and know that those most in need will be given a small gift this Christmas to help them feed themselves and their families.
“At Persimmon we pride ourselves on creating a lasting legacy in the community, just as the Lord Mayor does here in Canterbury.”
