Local School Celebrates ‘Invaluable Support’ For New Play Equipment

Gladstone Primary Academy in Longton has been awarded £2,000 from Persimmon Homes West Midlands through their Community Champions initiative.

The funding will support the school in purchasing new outdoor resources for its nursery and reception classes, allowing pupils to enjoy active play and outdoor learning as the warmer months approach.

The cheque presentation was attended by Elaine Brown, Sales Director, at Persimmon Homes West Midlands and Councillor Chris Robinson from Stoke on Trent City Council.

Ellen Picken, EYFS Outdoor co-ordinator at Gladstone Primary Academy said: We are very grateful to receive this money as it will be invaluable in supporting us in developing our EYFS outdoor area for the children.

“At Gladstone, we acknowledge the importance of outdoor play in our children's all-round development. We want to inspire the children's outdoor learning and help them to foster a love of nature and the outdoors. We aim to continue to create an exciting outdoor space for all to enjoy and explore!”

Councillor Chris Robinson at Stoke on Trent City Council said: “I was really proud to visit Gladstone Primary School where I presented a cheque to enable them to update their play area. The money was kindly donated by Permission Homes thank you to all involved.”

Elaine Brown, Sales Director, at Persimmon Homes West Midlands, said: “What we do is about much more than just building homes, it’s about leaving a lasting positive legacy in the communities that we build in.

“Gladstone Primary Academy is located near our Foxfields development and we were delighted to be able to offer this donation. We hope the new play equipment allows the pupils to make the most of outdoor learning as we approach spring.”
