Families are preparing to move into four new houses at the Charles Church development in Hadleigh, Suffolk after the latest homes for affordable rent were handed over.
The two-bedroom houses are being offered to those on Babergh District Council’s housing list through housing association partner Havebury, and will ensure the future residents have high-quality, energy efficient homes with spacious gardens to meet their needs.
We are building 273 new homes in Hadleigh, with 89 being built at the Charles Church Rose Manor community while the neighbouring Persimmon Constable Vale development will bring 184 new homes to the area.
Rose Manor includes 24 homes for affordable rent and seven shared ownership homes, including a range of one and two bedroom apartments plus larger three and four bedroom family houses.
Cllr Jessie Carter, Babergh District Council’s Cabinet Member for Housing, visited Constable Vale last week as the homes were handed over to Havebury to see the quality of housing being offered to those in housing need locally.
She said: “It was great to see these new sustainable homes being delivered on such an attractive and welcoming scheme in Hadleigh.
“We welcome the investment in affordable rent homes for the benefit of individuals and families here in Babergh District. We are keen to see further homes being delivered within the next phase of development at Constable Vale.”
Elliott Bragg, Havebury’s senior project manager for the scheme, said: “We’re pleased to work in partnership with Persimmon to provide much-needed affordable housing in Hadleigh. We are looking forward to welcoming our residents into their new homes”.
Stacy Brett, Construction Director of Persimmon Homes Suffolk, said: “We’re very proud of the high-quality homes that we have delivered here at Rose Manor. We are working with Havebury and Babergh District Council to meet local housing needs and leave a positive lasting legacy in Hadleigh.”
