Developer donation for Cardiff branch of national charity
22 April 2025

One of Wales’ largest developers has donated to the Cardiff & Vale branch of the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association.
Persimmon Homes East Wales donated £1,000 to the branch after its volunteers applied to its Community Champions fund, which sees £48,000 donated to good causes and much-valued organisations across Wales each year.
The Cardiff & Vale MND Association committee are dedicated to helping those in the community who are living with MND or caring for a loved one suffering the disease, including through the provision of grants and respite sessions for carers.
They recently funded six requests for recline chairs, helped with removal costs when those with MND have had to leave their home, and have bought arm supports which enable a person to continue to be able to feed themselves. They also raise money for vital research, recently giving £25,000 to Cardiff University Research Institute.
The cheque was presented at Persimmon’s site in northwest Cardiff, The Parish, which has two, three, and four-bed homes for sale from £184,995. Customers and properties may be eligible to benefit from Help-to-Buy Wales, where homes can be purchased with just a 5% deposit.
Recent local recipients of Persimmon’s Community Champions initiative include Creigiau Primary School, St Edeyrns Litter Pickers, Thornhill FC U12s Girls, City Hospice Cardiff, Clwb Rygbi Caerdydd, and Tiger Bay ABC.
Commenting, Persimmon Homes East Wales’ Sales Director Victoria Williams, said:
“The MND Association is a fantastic organisation that does some invaluable work in our communities, and we were delighted to be able to support their funding application.
“MND can come out of nowhere and it is a horrible disease, so we felt that supporting a local and active branch like that in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan was important to us, especially given the sites we have in both counties, both presently and previously.
“We have heard a lot about their great work and hope our donation helps make a difference.”
Rebecca Villard from the Cardiff & Vale branch of MND Association added:
“I am really grateful to Persimmon for their donation as it supports our fundraising ambitions for the branch.
“With so many deserving charities out there, I was delighted that our application was successful and we really appreciate being seen as worthy winners in a very competitive field.
“We look forward to putting this money towards helping those with MND and the carers who look after them.”
